The name was chosen to reflect the fate of hundreds of small towns that withered and died when two-lane highways were replaced by interstates. Since 1992, the company primarily has been the publisher of Oklahoma Route 66: The Cruiser's Companion, and Here It Is! The Route 66 Map Series . In 1998, Ghost Town Press joined with Anderson Productions to co-produce and distribute the video, Bones of the Old Road, which offers a unique and fascinating look at "forgotten" sections of America's Main Street. The year 2001 brought the 75th anniversary of the highway and the release of Oklahoma Route 66, a 200-page guidebook detailing the Mother Road in Oklahoma.
