The Mother Road Ride/Rally® NEWS
Last Call
We have sent our final mailing to all registered participants in the 5th Annual Mother Road Ride/Rally® If those ride stickers, join up points and departure information are not in your hands by May 10th, please call the office 1-800-553-5883, Extension: 10.
And it is not too late to sign up. There is no 'on site,' day of departure registration but I won't be leaving for Chicago until June 8th, so I could still FedEx the materials to you.
May 10, 1999 is the deadline for the pre-departure dinner at Dell Rhea Chicken Basket. We'd be happy to have you join us for that evening even if you are not making the run the next morning. Give us a call at 1-800-553-5883 for details, or check the Internet at: www.hhjm.com/dinner.
Keep Your Eyes on the Road, Bill!
Obviously Carrie Oakes was taking care of
smiling for the photographer. She and Bill,
from San Jose, CA, plan to start in Chicago
and run the whole road to Los Angeles.
Their day jobs are very high tech, so being
together on a bike and Route 66 will be a
real break from the usual. Welcome aboard!
Three From Brazil
This is the first year that we have registered anyone from South America for the Annual Mother Road Ride/Rally®. Carlos Socorro Godoi, Galdino Ferreira and Anderson Luiz Dos Reis registered via our Internet site (www.hhjm.com/rally). They haven't decided about their start/stop cities yet and I'm not quite clear about whether they are bringing their bikes to the U.S. or plan to rent. You understand that their English is a LOT better than my Portugese.
Yes, Portugese not Spanish. Alone among all South American countries, Brazil's native language is Portugese rather than Spanish. Brazil is the largest country in South America, it occupies about half the entire continent. It has a larger population than all the other South American Countries combined. Yes . . . they do have a lot of coffee in Brazil.
One of the Crooksville 7
Michael
'Rat' Collins is one
of the seven
riders from
the
Crooksville, OH area
that have
registered
for the 5th
Annual
Mother
Road Ride/Rally®. They plan to get on
Route 66 'downstream' from Chicago,
possibly Joplin or Rolla, MO. It may be that
the Chicago riders can rendevous with the
Ohioians at the Dixie Truck Stop . . . a
favorite place to gas and eat along the
Mother Road. Rat has rolled a bunch of
miles ranging from Laconia to Sturgis.
Repeat Offender, Redux
This month we are mailing
a special pin to the people
who have registered more
than once for the Annual
Mother Road Ride/Rally®.
We're also sending along
our special thanks for their
contributions to this event.
